There’s never been a better time to be vegan. Thanks to Gardein, plant-based meat-maker extraordinaire, meatless eats are now available at more than 20,000 retailers nationwide. Clearly, vegan meat has made it to the mainstream.

In total, Gardein is sold in over 23,000 stores, 5,000 food service establishments and 150 colleges and universities in North America alone. College students, employees, and average consumers are clamoring for the company’s plant-based chicken, beef, pork, and even seafood.

According to Gardein reps, its top vegan meat products in retail are the Seven Grain Crispy Tenders, Mandarin Orange Crispy Chick’n, Meatless Meatballs and Fishless Filets. In foodservice, the top sellers are the Chick’n Breast, Chick’n Strip, Beefless Strip and Meatless Meatballs.

Considering that 36 percent of people are open to plant-based eating, vegetarian menus have grown 66 percent in three years, and Google searches for veganism rose 32 percent from 2014 to 2015 — it’s no surprise that demand is so high for these meatless products.

Recently, the company launched pepperoni pizza pockets — basically a dream come true for any pizza-loving snacker. And, more new stuff is on the way. The company is launching an Eggless Scramble Breakfast Pocket this summer and four flavors of Skillet Meals this fall.

Pretty soon, the world won’t need meat (from animals) at all.
