how to vegan - Bacon Is As Dangerous As Cigarettes

Eating bacon is as bad as smoking cigarettes.

The World Health Organization has just reported that eating bacon could give people bowel cancer. In effect, this means that it is just as bad as smoking cigarettes.

Bacon Can Increase Risk of Bowel Cancer

comprehensive study has just been published that follows up on a report dating back to late 2015 about processed meats causing cancer. This meant that the World Health Organization said that sausages, bacon and other meats that had been processed were put in the group 1 carcinogenic category, which also includes cigarettes, asbestos, and arsenic.

The World Health Organization said that eating 50 grams of processed meat each day, which is around the equivalent of eating a couple of rashers of bacon or a single hot dog, sees the risk of bowel cancer rising by 18%. It was also stated that 34,000 additional deaths related to cancer occurred worldwide every year due to eating processed meat.

Damming Report Came From 400 Studies in 10 Countries

Eating bacon was said to be as bad as smoking cigarettes by the World Health Organization after they reviewed evidence that was exhaustive that had been provided by 22 scientists who conducted more than 400 studies over ten different countries. The study took data from many hundreds of thousands of subjects.

The core research revealed that processed meats such as hot dogs, sausages, salami, and pastrami are all meats that are smoked, salted, cured or have preservatives added to them. When people eat huge quantities of additives, they face a bigger risk of developing cancer, more specifically bowel cancer, said the World Cancer Research Fund.

Bowel Cancer Is Third Most Common Cancer in World

The National Health Service said that anyone who eats a large quantity of the meats faces a higher risk of contracting bowel cancer than those who only eat them in small amounts. It was revealed that in Europe bowel cancer is the second most common type of cancer along with being the third most common around the globe, said Cancer Research UK.

After the results of the research were revealed, the sales of bacon dipped sharply, and supermarkets in Britain said that the drop in sales was around £3 million in only a fortnight. Some years after the first report, the sales did rise, but still, there is a real danger to eating a lot of bacon and other processed meats.

As bacon and sausage make up the staple of the full English breakfast in Europe, people are not starting the day off right with a healthy meal; instead, they are putting themselves at risk of contracting cancer. The video below might put you off frying up that bacon for breakfast as it shows the whole process of how bacon is made.
